Maitum toasts its One Town, One Product (OTOP) - the marinated flying fish with Bangsi Festival every last week of January. The celebration also honors the fisherfolk who capture flying fish or bangsi for livelihood.
A celebration of thanksgiving for all the blessings of God has bestowed to the people of Maitum. It is celebrated every first week of May. Binuyugan comes from the word "buyog" meaning, all plans and activities of Maitum are guided by Almighty Father.

MAITUM, Sarangani (May 3, 2013) - Recipients from barangay Tuanadatu led by barangay councilor Maimona Tuanadatu (3rd from right) receive 5,000 fingerlings of tilapia Thursday, May 2, from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) staff Alvin Tagbac. Tuanadatu is Maitum’s farthest village. Earlier in the day, BFAR personnel conducted training on grow-out culture practices and management of tilapia in pond at the municipal auditorium. Barangay Batian is one of the most remote areas of Maitum and is reached only by habal-habal (passenger motorcycle). MAITUM, Sarangani (April 19, 2013) - Kids listen carefully as their teacher-volunteer teaches them how to read better during the "Sarangani Big Brother: Reading is Fun! – Season 6" summer reading class at Pinol Elementary School Wednesday, April 17. Pinol is a Moro village in the western outskirts of Maitum. SBB is a provincial summer reading class for 15 days implemented by Quality Education for Sarangani Today (QUEST) and Alcantara Foundation.
