Local government, rebels, monitoring teams talk peace MAITUM, Sarangani (September 30, 2011) - Mayor Elsie Perrett welcomes participants to the 5th GPH-MILF IMT and LMT (Philippine Government – Moro Islamic Liberation Front – International Monitoring Team and Local Monitoring Team) joint meeting on September 28 at the Maitum mini-auditorium. Mayor Perrett said: “This gathering is providential. We are here to discuss on how to keep peace in our community because this is very vital. We want our people to sleep well. This is also an avenue to bring up information and problems and what we can do to change the attitude of everybody so that we can all get along well regardless of what tribe we belong. Peace should be lasting in order for us to attain progress." The joint meeting was participated in by members of the IMT, Non-Violent Peace Force, Mindanao People's Caucus, Kalinaw Sarangani Unit, local police and military officers and local officials.
