Maitum Holds First Junior Fire Olympics The Bureau of Fire Protection–Maitum Fire Station, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Maitum, conducted the 1st Junior Fire Olympics on September 17–18, 2026, at the Rog-O Gymnasium in Barangay Malalag, Maitum, Sarangani. The two-day activity brought together students from seven schools in Maitum and provided them with opportunities to develop essential knowledge and practical skills in fire prevention, first aid, firefighting, rescue, and emergency response. The first day of the activity focused on lectures and hands-on learning sessions covering knot tying, basic first aid, basic firefighting, and proper carries. The sessions introduced the participants to fundamental techniques and procedures that can be applied during emergency situations. On the second day, the participants put their acquired knowledge and skills into practice through the official competitive drills. The competition featured four major events: Bucket Relay; First Aid and Bucket Rescue Relay; Knot Tying Relay; and Three (3) Hose Connection with Target Drills. Participating in the inaugural Junior Fire Olympics were students from Malalag National High School, Maguling National High School, Upo National High School, Edenton Mission College, Notre Dame of Maitum, Wali Integrated School, and Perrett Central Integrated School. The activity aimed to promote fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness among the youth while fostering teamwork, discipline, coordination, and quick response through practical training and friendly competition. Through the initiative of the BFP–Maitum Fire Station and the support of the Local Government Unit of Maitum and participating schools, the first Junior Fire Olympics provided a meaningful platform for young learners to gain valuable skills and develop a stronger culture of safety and preparedness in the community. #MasaganangMaitum #WowMaitum
